Ziata is an abbreviation of my mother's middle name and my great-grandmother's given name. The creation of these wines is a tribute to my mother, a loving, strong woman."

My mother, Mary Annunziata, was born in 1923 in Bruce, Washington, where her father worked on the railroad. Domenico Ruggerio had emigrated from a small town near Naples, Italy and migrated from Michigan to Washington State to continue his work with the railroad company.

After high school Mary moved to Seattle with a girlfriend and found a job working in the shipyards as an arcwelder, which she loved. She was one of the “Rosie the Riveter” women of WWII!

She’s a woman of few words but can get to the point. When tasting the Sauvignon Blanc her only comment was, “This is good stuff.” We hope you agree.
