The Wine:
The 2013 is a perfumed blend of Bordeaux varietals with an inviting mix of aromas of dark warm spices, molasses and ripe black plums, balanced by fresh floral and toasted coriander notes. It is fruit forward with jammy blackberry and fresh cherry flavors, while toasty barrel notes of caramel make for a rich and satisfying wine. Sumptuous in character, with finely integrated tannins, this wine promises to deliver for years to come. -Jennifer Williams, Winemaker
The Vineyard:
The 2013 ZIATA “Mia Madre” Red Wine is blended from four of Napa’s best vineyards in four distinct subappellations. We partnered with some of the Napa Valley’s top growers: Saunders in Oakville, McGah Rutherford, Viña Esperanza in Calistoga and Farella-Park located in Coombsville. Distinctive fruit. This blend of vineyard sources ensures a layered and complex wine.
The Growing Season:
A warm, dry spring brought early bud break, helped with canopy vigor and berry size and created ideal conditions for flowering and fruit set. With the exception of one heat spike in early July, temperatures were ideal and consistent in the Napa Valley. 2013 delivered exactly what we needed to make a beautiful wine.
